According to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, persistent drought conditions and extreme weather events have led to a 20% decline in crop yields across the state in the last two years, raising alarms among farmers and agricultural economists.

The Texas panhandle, known for its wheat and cotton production, has been particularly hard hit. Farmers in towns like Lubbock and Amarillo are reporting substantial losses, and many are struggling to make ends meet. “This has been one of the toughest seasons we’ve ever faced. We need immediate support to adapt to these changes,” noted Thomas J. Brown, a wheat farmer from Lubbock.

In response to these challenges, Texas farmers are increasingly turning to innovative practices and technologies to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
