On July 27, 2026, the Dallas Economic Development Corporation announced that it is actively supporting several initiatives aimed at increasing the capacity of the city’s data centers. With cloud computing and big data analytics leading the charge, the demand for data center services has surged significantly, with projections estimating growth rates of over 30% annually.
Local operators like CyrusOne and Digital Realty are spearheading these expansion efforts. CyrusOne has recently acquired a 50-acre plot in the growing Trinity Industrial District for a new data center facility expected to generate over 1,000 jobs and an investment of approximately $300 million.
“This expansion is vital for us to meet the increasing demands of our clients. The Dallas area is uniquely positioned due to its strategic location and robust infrastructure,” said Kevin Timmons, Chief Technology Officer at CyrusOne.

The growing ecosystem in Dallas is attracting investments not only from local firms but also international players looking to capitalize on the state’s business-friendly climate.
However, experts warn that this rapid expansion brings challenges, particularly in terms of sustainability and energy consumption.
