San Antonio is experiencing a commercial real estate renaissance, with multiple high-profile developments set to reshape its skyline and economic landscape.

Recent reports from the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation reveal that the city has seen over $1 billion in commercial investments in 2026 alone. Major projects include the $200 million mixed-use development known as The Riverwalk Plaza, which will feature residential units, retail spaces, and office facilities.

This project, developed by local firm JLL San Antonio, is expected to create more than 2,000 jobs during its construction phase, with completion slated for mid-2027. “We are committed to enhancing San Antonio’s urban environment while providing economic opportunities for our residents,” states Maria Gonzalez, project manager at JLL.

Additionally, an influx of technology companies is transforming the landscape. Tech firms are increasingly moving to the city, drawn by its affordability and quality of life. This trend has prompted the construction of a new $150 million technology park in the northwestern part of the city, expected to house over 50 tech startups when it opens its doors in late 2026.

The City Council has also initiated steps to attract more businesses through tax incentives and streamlined permitting processes. This has spurred interest from national retailers and corporations seeking to establish footprints in the area.

However, the rapid growth presents challenges, particularly concerning infrastructure. Local officials are working on a $100 million infrastructure improvement plan to enhance roads and utilities to accommodate the booming population and businesses.

“We must ensure our infrastructure keeps pace with growth,” says Councilman David Medina. “San Antonio is on the verge of becoming a major economic hub in Texas, and we intend to meet that potential head-on.”
